Thursday night was the start of the 5th anniversary weekend celebration of Sidelines Sports Bar and it was a whole bunch of fun with all the sports aficionados and their fans coming out to wish Laurie, Marty, Jennifer and the staff much congrats on 5 great years. Last Week in Review

Last weekend was the annual IGLTA annual conference which Florida was lucky enough to have held this year in Fort Lauderdale. The delegates started coming in on Tuesday and made Fort Lauderdale an even more fun place to be all week through and including Sunday.

lgbt-events-south-florida-1Friday evening was the IGLTA Consumer Expo and the RBC free live concert at Hagen Park. The event was a HUGE success with thousands in attendance. The night starred Billboard recording artist Kristine W, who was sponsored by Bill’s and Alibi, along with Tony Cruz and Charlotte McKinnon and was hosted by Nikki Adams and Ted Scouten. Congratulations to the IGLTA and the RBC for a fabulous event in the heart of Wilton Manors. At the concert I found out the Alibi won the Burger Battle by the Riverwalk Trust for the 2nd year in a row. Kudos to Jackson, Mark, Chef Ron and the entire Alibi family!

lgbt-events-south-florida-2Friday night was also my friend, Howard Marr’s(of Fabscout fame) 50th birthday at the Boardwalk. Needless to say the Boardwalk was filled with well wishers and lots of Howards boys. Do I really need to say I had fun… LOL! On Saturday early evening Dennis Dean Galleries presented the artist reception from 7 to 10 pm of “The Art of Capturing Alluring Images” featuring photography by Gio where lots of fans and well wishers showed up to meet the artist. Later on that night The IGLTA 2011 Annual Gala Dinner took place at the Fort Lauderdale Convention Center Ballroom starring Crystal Waters and a special recognition of Father Bill Collins and the Poverello Center, where a $5,000 check (which was then upped to $10,000) was given to Poverello from the IGLTA. On Sunday, As part of Aqua girl weekend the Aqua Foundation presented Aqualicious Tea Dance, a sizzling afternoon of dancing, cocktails and unity for a cause. The Tea Dance took place at the Surfcomber hotel and starred DJ Theresa with the opening set by DJ Kidd Madonny. Congratulations go out to the Aqua Foundation for another fabulous year!

Noche Latina Florida will be celebrating their 13th anniversary at Noche Latina Saturdays at The Manor tonight in the Ivy Lounge & Patio and in the Windsor room. The night will star Latin recording artist Tony Swing, Latin Band Tropical Dreams, Viva Mirage (Miss Noche Latina 20110, and Josue Santiago (Mr. Noche Latina 2007).
