PrideFest is the kick-off to the Pride Season

This year PrideFest is returning to its previous location at the popular Holiday Park / War Memorial Auditorium. For the last two years, the event has taken place at Jaco Pastorius Park in Oakland Park and many had missed its previous home.

The annual two day event will take place on March 10 and 11 and is hosted by Pride South Florida, a non-profit organization consisting of volunteers interested in promoting positive images of gays, lesbians, and transgender people. PrideFest’s theme this year is Beyond The Rainbow and will attracts tens of thousands of attendees and 250 gay and gay-friendly vendors. A celebration of the LGBT community, PrideFest promises to have non-stop entertainment including comedy shows, music, food, DJs, a dance tent and Florida’s largest AIDS Memorial quilt display.

Of course, the fun and entertainment doesn’t just take place those two days. Official PrideFest events kick off the week prior to the PrideFest weekend.

PrideFest, and these official Pride events, are fundraisers where proceeds are donated to local charities. Some of the groups that benefited in the past include Red Hispana Florida, South Florida Musical Guild-Pride Wind Ensemble, South Florida Gay Men’s Chorus, Women In Network, Arts United, Transgender Equality Rights Initiative, Stonewall Library & Archives, KP Productions, Names Project and Lambda Men’s Brotherhood.

Some of the amazing entertainers that you will see at PrideFest include well-known singers and recent reality show stars Taylor Dayne (Rachael Vs. Guy Celebrity Cook Off), Beverly McClellan (The Voice), plus Michele Balan, Tony Cruz, Alexis Salgado, Eryn Woods, Yovanni, Ray Guell, Julissa Velow, Kp Productions, Jonathan D Lovitz, Simon Says, South Florida Gay Men’s Chorus, Church of The Holy Spirit, Sunshine Cathedral Chorus, Signal 2 and The Vanya E’Dan Dance Company.

So, come out and celebrate your Pride at PrideFest – the kickoff to the Pride Season!
