 Angel Saez

On Labor Day weekend, Florida Transplant (aren’t almost all of transplants) and Puerto Rican Native Angel Saez won the title of the new Mr. Continental 2012/13. This is the second year in a row a Florida man won the title…go Florida. I had the pleasure of getting to know Angel just a few months before his win and I know Jim Flint (owner of the Continental Pageantry System) is going to be very happy with Angel as he is a really well rounded and giving human being. It was a pleasure to sit down with Angel for this exclusive Hotspots Interview.

How old were you when you realized you liked the stage?

I do not remember how old I was when I realized that I wanted to be on stage. I think my mother was involved in that decision, because since I was little she always had me involved in shows at school. Therefore, it’s my mother’s fault…LOL!

What made you decide to enter pageants?

I have always been a competitive person. I started doing pageants because they have a combination of talent, swim wear and interviews, which help me, maintain myself in shape physically and mentally.

What made you move to Florida from Puerto Rico?

To be honest what made me move to Florida was love; my partner and friend Eli Mendez. For 2 years he had decided that he wanted to finish studying school here in Florida. It was part of his dreams so why not help him accomplish his dreams when he has always helped me accomplish my dreams.

Angel Saez-2What do you do for a living?

I’m a personal trainer, a Zumba instructor, florist and event planner. As you can see, I keep very busy!

Why did you pick the Continental System over the others?

The Continental Pageantry System is 1 of the biggest systems, if not the biggest, in the gay community and well known because of the responsibility you have to have as a Mr. and it really depicts the person I am. Plus Continental is a big family and since I am Latino I like families that are big

What was the first thing that came into your head when they announced you as the winner?

I don’t remember what came to my mind I just started jumping and crying like a little baby and I looked up and said thank you God.

Are there people/sponsors you would like to thank?

Yes, definitely. I would like to thank all my friends and my sponsors, but most importantly I would like to thank my partner, Eli Mendez who always taught me to be who I am and has always been there for me…Te Amo. I would also like to thank: CY, my promoter, who has become a good friend; Tony Disario, who is a former Mr. Continental for all his advice; Noche Latina Florida for their trust and support; Mauricio form Tuxedo Warehouse and my dancers (Carlos Roque, Ivan San Juan, John Massey and Jennifer St Cartier)>

What would people be surprised to know about you?

That’s a good question I think you should ask my promoters about that. Some people think that I am a high maintenance boy because I have a nice body and a smile, but that is not the truth as I am a hard working person. I get up every day at 4 in the morning to open a gym and I get home from work 11:30 p.m. to cook dinner for my partner and have some fun with my pets.

What do you do for fun?

I like to travel, meet new people,  go out to dinners but most of all  I really enjoy sitting at home with my boyfriend and my 2 babies Sasha and Ty and watch TV.

What are your plans for your reign as Mr. Continental?

I am planning to work more with the community. I’m going to let everybody know that Angel is not a mister for the clubs, but a mister to help people and to help people reach their goals.
