Cuba-bannerThe world’s most internationally renowned Cuban artists will descend upon Miami Beach to perform at the sixth annual Global Cuba Fest Miami Beach Weekend March 15-17, presented by FUNDarte and Miami Light Project. The highly anticipated, weekend festival of live performances celebrates the roots of Cuban music and the genre’s funkiest innovations: from Jazz to son montuno, from bolero to trova, from timba to Afro-Cuban rhythms. 

The Miami Beach weekend music festival kicks off with a celebration of Afro-Cuban percussion, songwriting, and musical artistry, with some of the most internationally acclaimed contemporary Cuban musicians working in the genre today: Julio Fowler, Yadam, Pavel Urkiza, Yosvany Terry, Hilario Bell, Horacio Hernandez, Pedrito Martinez and The Creole Choir of Cuba.  

Friday, March, 15th, at 8:00 p.m.

The Deauville Hotel Jazz Club re-opens its doors with a concert by three contemporary Cuban singer/songwriters currently based in Madrid, revitalizing the Cuban music scene in Spain – Yadam, Pavel Urkiza and Julio Fowler.  $25 general admission, $5 off for students and seniors.

Saturday, March 16th, at 2:00 p.m.

Miami Beach’s North Beach Bandshell will be the site for a special interactive concert and workshop for families featuring award-winning, Miami-based percussionist Hilario Bell.  This is an offering for the whole family and will be a free event.

Saturday, March 16th at 7:00 p.m. 

Also at the North Beach Bandshell, the New York-based saxophonist and world-class Chekeré player Yosvany Terry and his multidisciplinary quintet presents “Afro Cuban Roots” with Osmany Paredes, Yunior Terry and Pedrito Martinez as invited artists.

This 9:00 p.m performance is followed by a performance by the Miami-based Grammy Award winner Horacio Hernandez, who heats up the dance floor with his high-powered, sizzling contemporary Latin Jazz percussion, accompanied by his Italian-based Jazz troupe Italuba, performing for the first time ever in the United States. $20 general admission, $5 Off for students and seniors

Sunday, March 17th 7:00 p.m.

At the North Beach Bandshell, the Creole Choir of Cuba performs a concert of vocal music honoring the history of their enslaved Haitian ancestors who were sent to the Caribbean from West Africa. $10 general admission.
