The 25th annual Miss Gay USofA at Large Pageant will take place on Wednesday, October 2, Thursday, October 3 and Friday, October 4 at the world-famous Parliament House Hotel and Resort in sunny Orlando, Florida.
MISS GAY USOFA AT LARGE CELEBRATES ITS SILVER ANNIVERSARY
The 25th annual Miss Gay USofA at Large Pageant will take place on Wednesday, October 2, Thursday, October 3 and Friday, October 4 at the world-famous Parliament House Hotel and Resort in sunny Orlando, Florida.
This event will be the culmination of the fabulous reign of Dorae Saunders, Miss Gay USofA at Large 2013. She has earned praise and accolades everywhere she has gone throughout her stellar reign during the past year, and her opening, themed “Welcome to Hollywood,” will be one to remember.
Dorae will be joined by several former Miss Gay USofA At Larges, including Niesha Dupree, Tajma Hall, Chelsea Pearl, Tahjee Iman, Kitty Litter, Desiree Demornay, and Alicia Markstone. Jacqueline St. James and Kelexis Davenport will be there celebrating their 20th and 10th anniversaries of winning Miss Gay USofA at Large, respectively. Denise Russell, Miss Gay USofA At Large 1990, is also making a long-awaited return to the Miss Gay USofA At Large stage this year.
Other USofA Royalty who will be performing as part of the festivities are Miss Gay USofA Shae Shae LaReese, Miss Gay USofA Classic Amy Demilo, and USofA MI Classic D-Luv Savion Kemp.
Jeremy Burnette, National Promoter for Miss Gay USofA At Large, is excited to be returning the pageant to the Parliament House: “The Parliament House is the perfect venue for a pageant of this caliber. The staging, lighting, sound system, seating…the Footlight Theatre is basically designed for a national pageant. The contestants love having their rooms right there on the property, and fans travel to Orlando to enjoy the tourist attractions during the day and the pageantry at night.”
The judges for this year’s pageant are:
Brooke Collins – veteran performer and jeweler from Charleston, South Carolina.
D-Luv Savion – Mr. USofA MI Classic from Nashville, Tennessee.
Niesha Dupree – Miss Gay USofA At Large 2000 from Atlanta, Georgia.
Denise Russell – Miss Gay USofA at Large 1990 from Canal Fulton, Ohio.
Desiree Demornay – Miss Gay USofA At Large 2011 from Phoenix, Arizona.
Alicia Markstone – Miss Gay USofA At Large 2001 from Orlando, Florida.
Vanessa Demornay – Former National Entertainer of the Year from Louisville, Kentucky.
Notably, this is the third year that Jeremy Burnette and Darryl Kent have produced Miss Gay USofA At Large, and they have not repeated a single qualified judge in that time. “We think it is important to spread the responsibilities around so the formers get a chance to judge if they want to and for the contestants to know that they will be judged by a fresh, qualified panel every year,” said Jeremy.
The competition promises to be a spectacular battle pitting some of the USofA’s premier plus-sized entertainers in a quest for the crown.
The 30+ contestants will compete in Personal Interview, Evening Gown and Talent leading up to the crowning of the new Miss Gay USofA at Large on Friday night, October 4, in the Footlight Theatre at the Parliament House.
