whsf bannerLast Wednesday, my pal Rodiney Santiago (of the A-List New York) had his 2014 calendar launch at Mova South Beach. Rodiney was there looking sexy as always and taking pics with his fans and autographing calendars. On Thursday, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force presented the official Miami Recognition Dinner “Sparkle” Preview Party on at Neiman Marcus Bal Harbour. Neiman Marcus’ Men’s Fashion Director Matthew Singer presented this season’s top trends, which feature bold jewel tones, stunning outerwear including  the velvet jackets, motorcycle jackets and cardigans, and fabulous accessories such as textured shoes. It was a fabulous fashion show! On Thursday Score opened in their new location on Washington Avenue and featured a VIP party early on and then opened to the public. Congrats to Billy and Luis who packed the new Score all weekend long! On Friday and Saturday was the grand opening of Therapy in Downtown Miami. There were sexy boys dancing all weekend long and on Saturday they featured adult video stars Ryan Rose and Trenton Ducati. On Saturday, Unity Coalition presented the 3rd annual Celebrate Orgullo, which this year moved to its new home on 73rd street. The event was a tribute to the Latino community with many performances, but the highlight of the day was a performance by Grammy and Emmy award winning Albita and her live band. A special thanks to Herb Sosa and the entire committee for putting on such a nice event.
Also on Saturday a little north from us was the 9th annual Orlando Pride, and once again they surpassed expectations with attendance estimated at over 100,000 people. Congrats to the MBA, Mikael, and all that are involved for such a powerhouse event!

whsf thur artAdrienne Arsht Center and the University of Miami, Department of Theatre Arts present Metamorphoses, written by Tony Award-winning playwright Mary Zimmerman, and is directed by Henry Fonte. Preview is tonight with opening night tomorrow, October 11 through October 27, at the Carnival Studio Theater. Tickets are $45 but please be aware that this performance includes Full Frontal Male Nudity.

The Lake Worth Playhouse (713 Lake Ave) opens its 61st season with a young and vibrant new musical, All Shook Up, a tribute to the life, songs and rock-and-roll style of the music king. Inspired by and featuring the songs of Elvis Presley. The story is based on William Shakespeare’s 1602 play Twelfth Night. Tonight is the preview night at 8p.m. ($23 & $27) and opening night is Friday, October 11 at 8p.m. ($35 – includes Opening Night Elegance). Evening and matinee performances will run October 12 – October 27 at 8pm and 2pm. ($26 & $30).
