Last Tuesday, Rumors Bar is featured a surprise 80th birthday party for the one and only TonyDee, where many of his friends and colleagues came out to celebrate. Also on Tuesday, Hunters featured Diego’s Birthday party, and it was obvious from the turnout that Diego s very loved in this town! On Wednesday, Equality Florida presented an Equality Connection at Chill Wine Lounge where Equality Florida members, LGBT equality supporters and those new to their organization to gather, mingle and learn more about the work of Equality Florida and how to support equality in Florida. On Thursday, The Miami-Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (MDGLCC) presented their monthly Spotlight Mega-Mixer Networker at Museum of Contemporary Modern Art and as usual this was well attended. On Friday my friend, and friend to our community, Electra in association with friends and family presented a Musical Tribute to the talented Terry M. Cain (October 24 1961-June 23, 2015) at Miami Shores Community Church. Terry was Electra’s husband/partner for 15 years and the outpouring of love was evident by the performers and the amount of people who attended. Terry will be very missed! On Saturday The Pride Center at Equality Park presented their 4th annual Community Day which once again was a huge success. Later that night there were 3 event: Jessica Channing celebrated her 1 year anniversary of Sloppy Seconds at the Stable; the annual Save Halloween party entitled “One Upon a Midnight Scary” took place at the historic Alfred I. Dupont in downtown Miami starring DJs Tracy Young, Alex Ramos, Carlos Rojas, Bill James and Maximus 3000 and the annual $1,000 Costume contest and Discotekka in association with Milancita and Danny Villar productions presented the last foam party off the year, and who doesn’t have fun in foam? On Sunday, The Second Annual Mizz Hallows Eve Pageant, took place at Bills and was presented by Mizz Cori, ClubMizz.com, FierceQueen.com and PrideMonkey.com. Congrats to Jazlyn Alezae on a well deserved win!

Stonewall Museum – Wilton Manors Gallery (2157 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors) presents the US premiere of Queer Kids: Coming Out In America (Photographs by Michael Sharkey) and it will be on view through January 4, 2015. The opening reception is today from 6-8 pm, and is free. For the past 8 years M. Sharkey has been documenting queer youth across the US and in Europe. Sharkey’s photographs are intimate testaments to his subjects’ powerful self-awareness; at once empathetic and opulent, they are the visual counterpart to the voice these young people have struggled—and lately succeeded—to find. Rooted in the long tradition of portraiture, Sharkey’s images grant his subjects a full measure of the dignity with which they deserve to be seen.
