Back by popular demand, The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County proudly presents Les Ballets Trockadero De Monte Carlo, the all-male troupe that combines masterful classic ballet with a dose of humor, on February 15 for one night only in the Arsht Center’s John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall.

Founded in 1974, Les Ballets Trockadero De Monte Carlo are a critical and audience favorite and have appeared in more than 30 countries and 500 cities around the world. The company of professional male dancers perform the full range of the ballet and modern dance repertoire, including classical and original works in faithful renditions of the manners and conceits of those dance styles. Their Miami engagement will include, among others, “Swan Lake Act II,” “Go For Barocco,” and “Paquita.”

The comedy of Les Ballets Trockadero De Monte Carlo is achieved by incorporating and exaggerating the foibles, accidents, and underlying incongruities of serious dance. The fact that men dance all the parts — heavy bodies delicately balancing on toes as swans, sylphs, water sprites, romantic princesses, or angst-ridden Victorian ladies — enhances, rather than mocks, the spirit of dance as an art form, delighting and amusing the most knowledgeable, as well as novices, in the audiences.

This performance closes out the Center’s 2014-2015 John S. and James L. Knight Masterworks Season – Signature Dance Series, supported generously by Knight Foundation.

“Inventive, humorous and world-class, Les Ballets Trockadero De Monte Carlo is a must-see for dance aficionados who will delight in the company’s take on the classics as well as for entertainment-hungry audiences who will thoroughly enjoy the company’s funny yet skillful take on dance,” said John Richard, president and CEO of the Adrienne Arsht Center. “It is a true pleasure to continue bringing this level of artistry to South Florida each year thanks to support from Knight Foundation.”

Tickets range from $25-$100 and can be purchased now through the Adrienne Arsht Center box office by calling (305) 949-6722, or online at arshtcenter.org.
