You Just Can’t Make This Stuff Up!

A good friend of ours was coming to Tampa for her final job interview with a large company. Going down the big escalator at Tampa International Airport to the baggage area, there was a guy standing down there with her name on a card. “Wow,” she thought. “How very nice!”

The guy’s name was Larry and he welcomed her to Tampa. Outside there was a car waiting for her. Off to the hotel they went. On the way, they talked about everything, like how excited she was to be in Tampa, her possible new job, and so on and so forth. When they arrived at the hotel, Larry tapped the driver on the shoulder and the driver gave him a thumbs up. Larry then congratulated her on getting the new job. She looked surprised and said, “I’m not sure what’s going on.” Larry smiled and said he was the chief executive officer of the company and the driver was the head of human resources! This just shows that it’s always good to be nice to everyone.

It’s Nice to Be Missed

Last week, we had our home tented. Thanks to the rain, what was supposed to take three days stretched into more than four. Last week, we did not send out a “Dishing with Mark and Carrie” column. We received many e-mails and calls of concern. Thank you for missing us. To catch up, this week we are posting two weeks of photos.

The Honey Pot Minions PartyDish-3035_copy

Recently The Honey Pot hosted a Minions Party, in honor of the new film. Everywhere you looked around the entire club, there were Minions! At one point, the Minions spilled out onto 7th Avenue, bringing Minion madness and fun to all the partiers in Ybor City. See our website, MCFilmFest.com, for all the Minion photos.

Did you know that there are tens of thousands of photos from our travels all over Tampa Bay posted on our website? On our homepage at MCFilmFest.com, click on the “photos” section, then scroll down to the locations and click again. You’ll see all of them there. Enjoy!

La Gaceta Newspaper

One of our favorite Ybor City gems is the La Gaceta Newspaper. This is the only trilingual newspaper in America. One column that’s a “must read” every week is “As We Heard It” by Patrick Manteiga. As editor and publisher, Patrick is the third generation to run the paper. His editorials are always very interesting and, at times, controversial. Make sure to read his column and the rest of the paper this week at lagacetanewspaper.com.
