As a prelude to the October 9th opening of Fort Lauderdale’s MiFo LGBT Film Festival, organizers present a screening of Guidance at Fort Lauderdale’s Classic Gateway Theatre at 7 pm. Directed by Pat Mills, Guidance was a favorite at the MiFo Miami festival.  David Gold, 36, a pathologically immature former child actor, has never been able to get over high school. Today, WHSF-3037_Thursday2he was just diagnosed with skin cancer and got fired from the last acting gig he could get. Desperate for money and with nothing else to lose, he fakes his resume, and gets a job as a high school guidance counselor. The students of Grusin High love him – it might be because he drinks and smokes with them. But this is just the beginning of his downward spiral. When he meets Jabriell, a teenaged outcast who’s just as screwed up as he is, he might learn that in the company of teenagers, sometimes you can go too far, especially when it comes to committing a ridiculous crime.

WHSF-3037_TIH2Multi-platinum superstars Duran Duran released their 14th studio album, Paper Gods, on September 11th via Warner Bros. Records.  A Deluxe version of Paper Gods is currently available for pre-order at all participating retailers. The Deluxe Fan Edition is available exclusively at or

Singer Simon Le Bon, keyboardist Nick Rhodes, bassist John Taylor, and drummer Roger Taylor recorded Paper Gods in London with producers Nile RodgersMark Ronson, Josh Blair, and Mr Hudson. The record features special guests Janelle Monáe , former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante, Canadian Juno-Award winning singer Kiesza, British singer/songwriter Mr Hudson, violinist Davidé Rossi and actress Lindsay Lohan.

The songs — already being heralded as the band’s best work since Rio — capture the true essence of Duran Duran, with the duality and sense of conflict that has always been at the heart of their music. Visceral and daring, the album mixes hard-edged, contemporary pop with the band’s darker more experimental side to create a body of work that is epic in its scope.

The lead single is the infectious and future classic “Pressure Off” featuring Janelle Monáe & Nile Rodgers.
