I was so excited when I got the call to meet some of the lead actors of Little Mermaid and to get a backstage tour.
The event started with Kelley Shanley, President and CEO of the Broward Center greeting us and introducing us to three of the principal cast members: Diana Huey (Ariel), Steven Blanchard (King Triton), and Melvin Abston (Sebastian). Diana and Melvin each sang a song from the show and then it was time for meet and greet with them.
When asked what the show’s theme was Diana answered “It’s about finding what makes you happy and doing it.”
Afterwards, we were given a back stage tour of the Broward Center by Company Manager Chris Holman, and got to see all the dressing rooms, costumes and props on the stage. What a different view it is looking out into the theater! We also got to see how the props come on and off the stage and where they are stored when not in use.
This was an incredible experience and I would like to thank the Broward Center, The Little Mermaid Cast, Broadway Across America and my friends Charlotte and Fernando.
