SAGE of South Florida & Prime Gentlemen present The Favourite: at 1:30 pm at The Pride Center, 2040 N. Dixie Highway. The Favourite is set in early-1700s England which is at war with the French. A frail Queen Anne plagued by physical ailments and the trauma of losing 17 children, occupies the throne. Wickedly funny and at times devastating, it focuses on Anne’s childhood friend and lover Lady Sarah Churchill who governs the country in her stead while tending to Anne’s ill health and mercurial temper. When a new servant Abigail Masham arrives, her charm endears her to Sarah. Some of the absurdist fun in the movie comes from the men of Parliament and Court who entertain themselves by racing ducks and throwing oranges at a naked man wearing a wig.  FREE and open to the public. Soda and popcorn served during the movie. For those interested, an optional lunch is planned before the movie at 12pm at Galanga’s Thai Restaurant, 2389 Wilton Drive (two blocks south of Five Corners). There is a 2 for 1 lunch menu priced $10 to $13 (i.e. $5, $6.50 + Beverage per person).
