This week’s mini challenge was the “gurls” pairing up to share the gift of shade against another group by giving them a box from Fab Fit Fun (after getting in 15 min quick drag) and explaining why they were getting the items in each box (with as much shade as possible). The groups were: Gigi and Jackie; Crystal and Jaida; Jan and Heidi; and Widow and Sherry. The winning group was Gigi and Jackie who each won a $1,000 gift card and a 1 year subscription from Fab Fit Fun.

The maxi challenge this week is thinking like a star and creating a ridiculously and totally unnecessary product for “Droop” and selling it by creating a commercial for it.

The guest judge this week was Chaka Khan and the runway look was “Black Wedding.”  The top looks were Jackie, Jaida, Crystal and the winner Heidi. The bottom two were Widow and Jan with Jan sashaying away.

I was looking forward to interviewing Jan, but didn’t expect it to be this soon:

Q: At what age did drag become an interest and how did you pick your name?

Drag became an interest to start pursuing when I was 23. Many years earlier a friend approached me and said if you ever do drag you should use this name Jan Sport, and I did!

Q: How many times did you apply to be on RuPaul’s Drag Race, and how did it feel when you found out you got chosen?

I only applied once. I started doing drag when season 9 was airing, and I thought to myself that I would like to be on season 12. I picked 12 as I thought that would give me enough time to prepare, and 12 is my lucky number. I focused on it, and put all my energy into it. When I got the call, I couldn’t believe it, but I was thrilled to know my hard work paid off.

Q: Tell us about your RuPaul’s Drag Race experience?

It was a dream come true; to walk the runway and be in front of Ru, Michelle, Carson, Ross, and all the special guests was such an honor. The response from fans is wonderful. They are loving my positive attitude and talent. It’s unbelievable that I got to do this on the world’s greatest drag stage.

  1. Is there something you wish you did different?

I wish I didn’t cry so much, but other than that I was proud of everything I did. The only thing I would have changed is I would have held a mirror up and refine my commerical performance.

  1. How upset were you that you got rooked (my words) and didn’t win the Madonna challenge?

I was really upset, as I am the musical theater queen. I can dance and sing and if they were not giving me the win for that challenge, I knew there was no way for me to win the show. It got me so upset that I think it’s what led to my downfall the next week.

  1. Did you see the graphic going around social Media saying “Jan you cured the Coronavirus, you are Safe,” and did it make you laugh?

All the memes and social media elements to that episode was beyond my expectation. To see the outcry was insane to me. I feel very loved.

Q: What’s your marital status?

I currently have a boyfriend and we live together in NYC. We have been dating for 2 years now.

Q: Who do you want to win?

Its Gigi’s to lose at this point. She has been doing so well and the judges love her.

Q: What’s ahead for Jan?

Original music is definitely on my horizon, and hopefully some Youtube content. I would also love to be asked back to All Stars.
