The Washington Football team based in Washington, DC, had never hosted a Pride Night before September 16th. Many other teams in the NFL will have an annual Pride event, but in a show of solidarity with the Native American community, the DC area LGBTQ+ groups refused to partner with the team under their previous name of the Redskins. After the team changed their name, the new ownership and management has made it a goal to create an inclusive environment for all football fans at their games. The initiative seems to have worked for everyone, as the WFT defeated the New York Giants in the game by a single point.
