I have been going through some difficult things in my relationship. A few months ago, I caught my boyfriend cheating. Although it broke my heart, I have been working past it, and we decided to stay together. Recently, I made a mistake. We were on a cruise, and I slept with one of his friends. I know it was wrong, and I got caught up in the moment. Now he wants to break up because of it. I don’t think that it is fair that I forgave him, but he can’t forgive me. I don’t know what to do. I do love him, and I don’t want to lose him. Please help.

To be perfectly honest, there is nothing that you can do. You can try to talk it out, but you cannot force anything, especially a relationship. Forgiving him for cheating, doesn’t necessarily give you a free pass in the same instance. Cheating is not a mistake; it is a choice. To everything there is a consequence, so regardless of the past, unless he is willing to forgive you – you might have to just cut your losses. I hope it works out, but if not, then you will hopefully make better choices next time.
