The Cookout: A Black History Month Celebration is one of Hotspots! Happening Out’s continuing efforts to showcase that the City of Wilton Manors is welcoming to all races and ethnicities, and is committed to building upon the race relations within the diverse Island City.
The Cookout acts as a fundraiser that donates all proceeds from the celebration to a worthy organization that provide services in the advancement of Black and Brown LGBTQ+ people. The inaugural 2022 celebration awarded Ujima Men’s Collective, a collective of Black same gender loving men who will educate, inform, encourage, and advocate for themselves and the greater community. For 2023, The Cookout’s beneficiary is the Black LGBTQ+ Liberation, Inc.(BLINC).
