Tonight, is the monthly Pride Skate (first Thursday of the month) at Xtreme Action Park (5300 Powerline Road, Ft laud) and this month it’s a pre-party to Pridefete 2023. The night will star Velvet LeNore, DJ Tpro, a full liquor bar and lots of fun!

NSU Museum invites everyone to try out their popular Creativity Exploration Workshop during Starry Nights at 5pm. Admission is $10 for members and $15 for non-members and this is an 18+ event. Hotspots/Happening Out Art Gallery with Dennis Dean presents and celebrates artists from the Caribbean and their art in honor of Pridefete 2023 from 6-9pm. Campion College Dance Society Presents: ROOTS endorsed by the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sports in Jamaica as one of the official events of the country’s 61st independence celebration at The Parker today at 8pm and tomorrow, Sunday August 6 at 7pm. The Bite Eatery (2715 E Atlantic Blvd, Pompano Beach), with 10 different authentic dining options that is every food lover’s dream, will host a school supply drive and happy hour from 5:30-7:30 pm to ensure that students in Broward County Public Schools are prepared for school. Donations of school supplies or cash to purchase them will be gratefully accepted and benefit students served by Broward Education Foundation, Children’s Diagnostic Treatment Center, and Children’s Harbor as they prepare for the back-to-school season. Outshine Film Festival’s Cocktails and Cinema presents a free event: Red, White & Royal Blue at Regal Cinemas South Beach at 7pm. Based on the Casey McQuiston Novel of the same name, this story focuses on Alex, the First Son of the United States and his rivalry with the young prince, Henry. After causing a major uproar at the older Prince’s Brother’s wedding, the two are forced to avoid a national incident by up playing their nonexistent friendship with a goodwill visit to the UK. Their rivalry soon turns into a forced friendship and then blossoms into something even more. Starting today and going through September 23, the Palm Beach Photographic Centre presents their 27th annual Juried exhibition. “This amazing exhibit will provide a glimpse into the diverse work and the unique perspectives of 50 different photographers, many of them members of the Palm Beach Photographic Centre,” said Fatima NeJame, president of PBPC. “This year’s winners will be announced at the exhibition’s free live opening reception on August 9. The exhibition will also be featured on ourwebsite at Workshop.org.” The Palm Beach Photographic Centre is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching life through the photographic arts.

Hotspots Magazine/Happening Out Television Network in association with Pride Fort Lauderdale present the 2nd annual Pridefete: An LGBTQ+ Caribbean Festival at Richardson Park from 6-11pm. Last year over 1,000 people attended and this year its expected that there will be even more in attendance. The event will feature hosts Octavia Yearwood and Kerry and Pierre, with performances by Richard Forbes, DJ SheJ Hercules, DJ Aika, TP Lords, Oscar Novva, and many more including masqueraders and a parade. General admission tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the door and VIP tickets, which include 5 drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and an air-conditioned space are $80 in advance and $100 at the door. The official after party for Pridefete takes place at Noche Latina Saturdays at the Manor Complex and stars resident DJ Duniel (Cuban), performances by Angie Ovahness Pryce (Haitian) and Yeisa Jovovich (Puerto Rican) as well as sexy Latin Go-Go Papi’s. Doors open at 11pm and admission is only $5 for Fl res until midnight.

The Greater Fort Lauderdale LGBT Chamber of Commerce presents their July Mixer at Sonesta Fort Lauderdale (999 N. Ft Laud beach Blvd) from 5:30 to 7pm. GLSEN announced that actor and activist Wilson Cruz (Star Trek) will be the new chair of board and award-winning journalist and TIME 100 Most Influential People Imara Jones will join as Vice Chair.

National LGBTQ Task Force announced Pose star Dominique Jackson will receive the National Leadership Award at the 50th anniversary National Gala for her part in furthering the Task Force’s mission to advance freedom, justice, and full equality for all LGBTQ people. The Gala is the premier annual celebration of South Florida’s LGBTQ community with this year’s theme “Forever Strong, Unapologetically Queer” speaking to the organization’s determination in uplifting the LGBTQ community. The funds raised by this year’s Gala will fuel the organization’s work to advance the rights and security of LGBTQ people in S. Florida and across the country. The Gala date is October 14 in Miami Beach, Florida.
