Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias is one of America’s most successful stand-up comedians performing at sold-out concerts around the world. Storks presents Photographer David Woodin as this month’s “Artist on the Walls.” The art will stay on the walls until September 17 to look at or purchase and on Wednesday August 30 they will feature a meet and greet from 6:30-9pm. David Said: “Photography has always played a very important part of my life.  My love of travel has given me the opportunity, to capture images from the many beautiful places I have visited.  When capturing that special image, subject matter, composition, and lighting all play a very important role.  Lighting has always been the key element in all my photographs.  Photographing landscapes and nature has taught me how to be more patient by studying, the lighting on all my subjects and being aware of the surroundings which helps create that perfect image.”

Join the Bears of South Florida on at 6:30pm at Carrabba’s Italian Grill in Pompano Beach (1299 S. Federal Hwy.) for a four-course meal paired with wine. The menu is as follows: Luna Fritte, Citrus Salad, Pork Chop Ardente, and Berries and Buttercream. The Miami Improv presents Melissa Villaseñor tonight, Saturday and Sunday. Melissa Villaseñor broke barriers by becoming the first-ever Latina cast member of Saturday Night Live. A comedic impressions expert, she got her start as a semifinalist on “America’s Got Talent.” Melissa has voiced characters on Cartoon Network’s OK K.O.! and Adventure Time, Comedy Central’s TripTank, Fox’s American Dad, Family Guy, and most recently, Disney Pixar’s Toy Story 4. She has received a Golden Globe nomination for her work on the animated feature Ralph Breaks the Internet. Forbes named Melissa one of their 30 Under 30 in 2017 and Rolling Stone named her as one to watch on their 50 Funniest People Right Now list. The Hardrock Live at the Seminole Hardrock Hotel and Casino Hollywood presents Colin Jost at 8pm. Colin Jost serves as “Weekend Update” anchor on “Saturday Night Live.” He started writing for “SNL” in 2005 and has been co-anchor of “Weekend Update” since 2014. Jost has won five Writers Guild Awards, two Peabody Awards and has been nominated for 13 Emmy Awards for his writing on “SNL.” As a writer, Jost has been published multiple times in the New Yorker and has contributed to the New York Times Magazine and the Huffington Post, among others. In 2020, Jost debuted “A Very Punchable Face,” which was a New York Times Best Seller. The memoir is a series of essays that documents pivotal moments in Jost’s life, including growing up in Staten Island in a family of firefighters, commuting three hours a day to high school, attending Harvard while Facebook was created and more. The Broward Center for the Performing Arts will host a free open house for the Rose Miniaci Arts Education Center from 10am to 2pm.  Guests can tour the education center facilities, observe, or sample a class, meet the teaching artists, win prizes, register to win a free fall class, and enjoy family-friendly activities and light refreshments. Join Frost Science for a programming series that provides a hands-on immersion into the world of technology. Engage with some of the latest technology while learning the basics behind how it works, from coding to electrical engineering. Every workshop includes take-home technology to help ignite curiosity at home.  During this session, from 1 to 3pm, participants will explore computer science through coding and problem-solving as they program a shpero ball. Renato (Ugo Tognazzi) and Albin (Michel Serrault) are happy that their son, Laurent (Rémi Laurent), is getting married. Unfortunately, the bride’s father (Michel Galabru) is a die-hard conservative — and Renato and Albin are rather conspicuously gay. To ensure that the marriage goes off without a hitch, Albin uses his skills as a drag performer to play mom for a meeting with the in-laws. Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2023, and to mark the occasion, Riverwalk invites artists to share their view of the Riverwalk. Two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork of all mediums are invited to participate in the competition, including but not limited to watercolor, oil, sculpture, photography, charcoal, mixed media, drawing and gouache. The winning artwork will grace the cover of a future issue of Go Riverwalk Magazine.

Artists, no matter where they live, are invited to submit their original artwork by Oct. 1, 2023, to the Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale office at 888 E.
