FLoatarama held its second annual Check Awards event at Hunters Night Club in Wilton Manors Florida on October 12. This year’s grants from the FLoatarama LGBTQ Youth Fund totaled $75,000 between six local agencies aligned with FLoatarama’s mission to support LGBTQ+ Youth, this was 50% more than the previous year’s grant. The event distributed Grant awards to LGBTQ+ organizations for their contribution to the community. The honorees included The Humanity Project, Thinking Cap Theater, Stonewall National Archives, Museum & Library, National Voices for Equality, Education, and Enlightenment, South Florida Pride Youth Band, and SunServe. FayWhat?! and Rene Cantu hosted the evening which was filled with fun with over 300 in attendance celebrating philanthropy and the LGBTQ+ community. Attendees were touched by the inclusive and inspirational messages delivered by Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, CEO of The Our Fund Foundation, David Jobin, CEO of SunServe, Tony Lima, President of Floatarama Scott Schramm, and others. In addition to the grant awards, the event also held a successful silent auction with lively bidding and enthusiasm raising $2,550. This is not the end of the celebration for FLoatarama. Its next event, the upscale evening Sights & Lights Cruise, is around the corner and scheduled to be on Thursday 28th December.
