Equality Florida presents their 2023 Broward Gala at The Westin Resort Convention (3030 Granada St). This year’s event will be Emceed by Jamie Guirola and Steve Maclaughlin, with the key note speaker being Nadine Smith; the Voice of Equality Award going to Tatiana Williams, and the Equality Means Business Award going to NBC 6. Have a paw-tastic day with your furry friend at the 17th Annual Mutts & Martinis today from 12pm to 4pm at Esplanade Park in Downtown Fort Lauderdale. This free, family friendly event features a doggie fashion show, a peanut butter eating contest, a variety of vendors, food trucks and great music. In addition, there is the Bow Wow VIP sponsored by Tito’s Handmade Vodka featuring unlimited martini samplings and lite bites for $35 per person. Several pet rescues will also be on hand hoping to find fur-ever homes for their canine residents. Gulfstream Park Village invites everyone to the ‘Symphony in Lights” kick-off event on today from 7-10pm. This community celebration will feature DJ Chris Cruz and music from the Valerie Tyson 8-piece band. Santa Claus will be posing for selfies along with elves, dancers, and Nutcracker stilt walkers. After the opening remarks, a 10-minute light show dazzled in snowfall will commence. After tonight this will run nightly from Nov. 12 – Dec. 31. This is not only the perfect opportunity to experience some holiday magic, but also to enjoy shopping, dining, and boundless entertainment at Gulfstream Park Village’s open-air setting. Sunday, November 12

Taking place every Monday throughout November from 5 to 7pm, Noche de Arte, a weekly Art Residency featuring local artists painting live returns as it celebrates 50 years of Hip Hop Thru Art and 15 years of PATH (Preserving, Archiving & Teaching Hiphop, Inc). With the support of local Miami arts organization CollaborARTive and PATH, Intercontinental Miami is featuring live interaction with artists Miss Lushy and Louiedology to connect with the guests on a deeper level and tap into various creative styles. Miss Lushy will be in residence today, and Louiedology on November 19 and  26 at the InterContinental Miami.  The event is free and open to the public.

Miami Dade College’s (MDC) 40th Miami Book Fair (MBF) will take place from today through Nov 19, in downtown Miami. This year’s Miami Book Fair will once again feature some of the world’s top authors, influencers, and celebrities, including evenings with headliners Kerry Washington, Joan Baez, David Brooks, Walter Mosley, Jada Pinkett Smith and Henry Winkler, among others. Today is Give Miami Day, which is one of the largest annual giving events in the nation. On this day, you make a philanthropic impact by supporting our community’s local nonprofits. University of Miami Student LGBTQ+ Mural Presentation to Stonewall National Museum, Archives & Library takes place today at 6pm. Join representatives from the university for the presentation, refreshments, and conversations about how they will engage the next generation of leaders. Shops at Merrick Park, Coral Gables’ will present its 20th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony today at 5pm. Friday, November 17

The Frost Museum invites everyone to experience legendary music combined with laser light visuals during their next Laser Evening. Guests can enjoy feeling the love with Elton John, paint it black with The Rolling Stones, dream on with Aerosmith and more all under the Frost Planetarium’s 67-foot dome. They encourage everyone to come early to hang out in the museum’s Main Atrium where light snacks and beverages will be available for purchase. Saturday, November 18

Today and tomorrow the Equality Garden Club presents their annual “A Tropical Plant Fair” from 9am to 5pm today and 9am to 3pm tomorrow at Richardson Park and Nature Preserve. Admission is $5 for both days, and children under 12 are free. They will also feature free parking at City Hall with a free shuttle bus over. Pinecrest Gardens, South Florida’s historic botanical gem, proudly announces its first-ever ‘Avian Oasis’ exhibit. Congratulations to José Javier, Community Health and Well-Being Outreach Coordinator at Holy Cross Health in Fort Lauderdale, who received the Magno Morales Outstanding Immigrant Award from Latinos en Acción (LEA), an advisory group to the Broward County HIV Prevention Planning Council (BCHPPC). The Hispanic HIV Leadership Awards ceremony included appearances by “America’s Got Talent” contestant Alde Tremenda; Kimberly Venom; and Joseph Thiels Miss and Mr. Noche Latina 2023; Miss Florida F.I. 2022 Juliana Rivera; and Miss Universal Show Queen Gadfrie Arbulu.

Renowned for its luxurious spa and wellness center and state of the art fitness center, JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa takes it to the next level, encouraging fitness buffs to test their mettle with the launch of a new Full Functional Fitness Course. On Friday, November 17 from 6-11pm Florida International University presents Gender Chill: Gender Justice Fashion Show at their Wolfe University Center Ballroom (3000 NE 15th St, N. Miami).
