Join us as we dive into the historic 41st Gay Games, a celebration of LGBTQ+ sports and culture taking place for the first time in two cities, Hong Kong and Guadalajara. This marks a significant moment in history as it’s the first time the Gay Games are held in Asia and Latin America. Despite facing criticism over human rights abuses, these games continue to unite over 4,000 participants from more than 45 countries. However, Taiwan has decided not to participate due to fears of mainland Chinese police. We also explore the recent legal battle over the use of the word ‘Olympic’ and the significance of hosting these LGBTQ+ games not far from the origins of the ancient Olympic Games in Athens.
