RuPaul’s Drag Race UK winner The Vivienne, also known as James Lee Williams, was found dead in a bathroom on January 5 in Chester, England. Local police confirmed the death was due to an “unnatural cause,” with no suspicious circumstances.

However, a post-mortem examination from coroner Victoria Davies echoed the “unnatural cause of death” and announced an open inquest, extending the investigation through June 30. British authorities provided no additional details on defining “unnatural causes” or why the investigation was extended another 5 months.

Since the news of The Vivienne broke, drag artists from RuPaul’s Drag Race and beyond expressed their grief on social media, mourning the beloved queen’s sudden passing. Queer News Tonight will provide further updates as more details emerge.
