This year’s theme: Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. It’s inspired by Monica Miller’s groundbreaking book, Slaves to Fashion, which explores Black dandyism and diasporic identity. Miller herself is a guest curator. The assignment? “Tailored for You” — asking celebrities to bring their sharpest, most personal looks that elevate Black style.
Emil Wilbekin of FIT put it bluntly: “With the ‘Superfine’ exhibition happening in this era of [Donald] Trump and anti-DEI… it’s a very high and very intellectual form of resistance.” Wintour isn’t standing alone.
