Snooker’s global governing body now states that only players born biologically female may participate in women’s events. The organization said it considers snooker a gender-affected activity under the Equality Act 2010. In a statement, WPBSA said: “Our position has always been that the policy would be subject to immediate review…” adding that recent cases and research have changed the landscape. It says that all players remain eligible for open tournaments, but only biological female players can compete in women’s tournaments. The move follows Harriet Haynes’ failed discrimination case against the English Blackball Pool Federation.
