Six protesters were arrested inside the Idaho State Capitol after staging a sit-in in a men’s restroom to oppose a new transgender bathroom law. The demonstrators occupied the space for nearly two hours, chanting and drawing attention to how enforcement of House Bill 752 could unfold when it takes effect July 1.

Police detained the group, citing disruption rather than bathroom use. Officers said the protest had become too loud for the working Capitol building. This sit-in follows another protest earlier last week. On April 1, nine individuals were arrested after refusing to leave the governor’s office entryway while demanding a meeting about the legislation. That protest, led by faith leaders and LGBTQ+ advocates, ended with arrests on trespassing charges.

House Bill 752, signed by Governor Brad Little on March 31, makes it a crime to enter public facilities that do not align with a person’s sex assigned at birth. A first offense under this new bill carries up to one year in jail. A second conviction within five years could result in up to five years in prison.
