The upcoming Heartstopper finale film, Heartstopper Forever, has recast Nick Nelson’s mother, Sarah, with Anna Maxwell Martin replacing Olivia Colman.
Colman previously portrayed Sarah in the first two seasons, including pivotal moments surrounding Nick’s bisexual coming-out journey. The recasting decision was made due to the schedule conflicts with Colman. With the recast, creators are opting to retain the character in the story. The film will also feature Derek Jacobi in a cameo role. Set for release later in 2026, the film continues Nick and Charlie’s story as they navigate a long-distance relationship, with Nick preparing for university and Charlie exploring independence at school. Direction shifts to Wash Westmoreland, taking over from Euros Lyn.
