Legendary actress Sally Field opened up about family, friendship, and queer advocacy in a new interview with People. Reflecting on filming the classic movie Steel Magnolias, Field recalled how wonderful the experience was alongside co-stars Dolly Parton, Julia Roberts, and Shirley MacLaine. Field said her youngest son, Sam, spent much of his infancy on set, and laughed, saying, “Sam has always said that that’s probably why he’s gay.”
A longtime LGBTQ ally, Field also supported the Equality Act, a federal legislation that would ban discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
