At an event for law enforcement officials on Monday, Donald Trump described the White House as poorly maintained before he took office and praised himself for restoring it. He said, “This place was not properly taken care of…I was told by my wife you have to act presidential, so don’t use foul language. I won’t, therefore. Normally, I would have said it was a sh*t house, but I don’t want to say that.” Trump also claimed he personally paid for improvements. He further promoted plans for a new White House ballroom, calling it “the most beautiful ballroom anywhere in the world.” The comments quickly sparked backlash online. Many said the changes he made have made it uglier.
