It was a pleasure to sit down with the “Rockstar” Mackenna Tolfa, for this exclusive Hotspots interview:
At what age did you begin as a musician and how did it start?
I started on the drums at 5 as I grew up in Wisconsin which has a big Polka culture. I then learned piano and studied music for a long time. But drums are what I really fell in love with.
What do you enjoy about performing?
The connection with the audience and the other musicians on stage.
When did you know being a musician would be your career?
I had a life altering experience in High School at a solo competition, where an adjudicator told me this is what I should be doing. She lit the fire under me and that was it.
If you weren’t performing, what would you be doing for a living?
Creativity is the forefront of my life, so it would have to be something in the artistic…probably a chef as I am a big foodie.

What’s something a lot of people don’t know about you?
That I am named after a movie character in “Somewhere in Time”
What are some of your interests/hobbies/favorite pastimes?
I am really bad at not creating music all the time, as I also compose. I do also love cooking and being out in nature.
What does the future hold for you?
I hope to keep performing and touring as traveling and meeting amazing human beings is a blessing. It’s the best most insane experience of my life and I am super grateful!!
In addition, I am launching “Lennon” at the end of the year, which is an alien grunge pop group. I am launching it on all social media.

What should our readers expect from the performance of Blue Man Group?
This new tour is the only iteration that has the new character, the Rockstar, who is a blend between a traditional band member and a 4th member of the Blue Man Group. This show is visually stunning and this character brings a new element to the show.
