A new queer women’s basketball romantic comedy is heading to screens, with several WNBA players attached to the project. Courtside will star out athletes Syd Colson, Theresa Plaisance, and Gabby Williams in a story centered on professional women’s basketball. The film follows “an injury-plagued women’s hoops superstar whose championship ambitions are upended when she falls for her teammate.” The movie is written by Abbott Elementary writer Brittani Nichols and directed by Carly Usdin of Suicide Kale.
The project arrives amid growing demand for LGBTQ sports romances following the success of Heated Rivalry.
