Paul Drayton, the ex-husband of comedian Alan Carr, says he often felt overlooked and dismissed during their marriage as he promotes his new memoir, Ride – Or Die Trying. Speaking to PA, Drayton said, “In the past, I think I have been overlooked and dismissed because I’m a ‘nobody’, basically, everyone just knows who I was married to…That’s partly one of the reasons why I’ve written the book – I’m not just their ex-husband, I’m my own independent person.” Drayton and Carr married in 2018 after a decade together before separating in 2022. In the memoir, Drayton also reflects on growing up gay in 1970s England, his struggles with alcoholism and undiagnosed ADHD, and his sobriety journey.
