Pearson is defending a GCSE Spanish revision guide after critics accused the publisher of “indoctrination” over an example sentence about someone who “fights for transgender rights.” The guide, created for students taking the Edexcel GCSE in Spanish, includes the phrase as one of several sample responses for describing a person they admire, alongside examples such as being a good role model or helping others. The debate follows earlier criticism of Pearson’s guidance allowing gender-neutral pronouns and inclusive spellings in some language exams.
