During the Super Bowl, gay NFL cheerleaders shine the most. This year, Jonathan Romero will cheer for the San Francisco 49ers. He is the first ever male cheerleader in 49ers history. He has been sharing his NFL experience with the Niners’ fans through social media since the announcement. The 49ers are supportive of LGBTQ+. It has a fan club for the queer fans and sells too gender-neutral merchandise. However, Romero is not the only gay cheerleader in the NFL. The Carolina Panthers, among a few more, have two LGBTQ+ cheerleaders, one of them, Justine Lindsay, is the first openly transgender cheerleader in the league. The presence of gay NFL cheerleaders highlights the league’s growing inclusivity.
