Pride on 7th, Tampa’s Pride Celebration Gives Out Charity Gifts – At the September GaYBOR District Coalition Meeting a surprise was given to MCC Tampa, Francis House and to GaYBOR District Coalition. On the non profits wish list was a need for a new vacuum cleaner and one was given to Francis House. A new paper shredder was wanted by MCC Tampa and poof … it appeared by the graces of the new Pride on 7th committee. And lastly a check was given to the officers of GaYBOR District for over $1000 from promoters Mike Hammond and Jorge Alvarado from the Umbrella Management Group. This is the return of Tampa Gay Pride events and the coverage was awesome! You will be seeing more events from TUMG soon. Thank you for the generous community gifts.

When GaYBOR members were talking about ways to fund a float in the Orlando Pride Parade, Michael and Kurt (owners of Hamburger Mary’s Ybor) were the first to raise their hands offering not one, but 2 great events! On October 1st there will be a Drag Off between the two owners. The contest is already heating up and wigs may fly! Rumors are that one of the guys will have help from the Straus Performing Arts Center and the other will have celebrity back up dancers! The other event will be GaYBOR Drag BINGO on October 6th. This is always a huge sold out BINGO with fabulous prizes. The big winner at both these events is our community! Thank you, Michael & Kurt!

It seems more National Female Impersonation Pageants are looking at Tampa Bay, especially the GaYBOR District in historic Ybor City, for new and bigger venues. Fill them hotels up! Ok, this is funny. A straight visiting couple was celebrating the wife’s birthday at the Reservoir Bar. After drinks and a Mama paddling she was taken back to the Hampton Inn. He later re-surfaced and gave a gay Yborian resident a big man kiss! More details were left out. Nelson from Sarasota is going to New York City for the New York City Firemen’s Reunion and seeing his old buds. Lori, owner of Sea Breeze Manor Bed & Breakfast (SeaBreezeManor.com), has a fall getaway rate in beautiful Gulfport Beach. And she throws one hell of a breakfast, too!
