Friday night I was lucky enough to get to see Barry Manilow live in concert for the first time in my life. To say that he puts on a production is an understatement. His fans packed the Bank Atlantic Center for a memorable night that was filled with laughter and some joyful tears. Thanks Barry for being who you are! Saturday, I was invited by the producer, Frank R., to be his guest at the Birdcage at the Manor. The night starred Joe Posa, Tommy Femia, Steve Brinberg and Thirsty Burlington as Joan Rivers, Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand and Cher. This was the best live impersonation vocals I have ever seen. When they bring this show back (I am just assuming they will) I urge you all to buy tickets, you will thank me afterwards!

lgbt-events-south-florida-2After the show I headed to Sidelines to celebrate, their marketing director and my friend, Jennifer’s birthday. The bar was filled with well wishers and one can see the new no smoking rule and refresh of the bar has brought in new faces while still keeping their loyal supporters. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Jennifer a very happy birthday and many more to come.

lgbt-events-south-florida-3Sunday, I headed up to Tampa as I was honored to be asked, by Bob Taylor (producer), to judge the Miss Florida Gay USofA pageant being held at the Honey Pot. The pageant had 8 contestants and a lot of great special guests. They had 2 celebrity Judges; Miss America 2004 Erika Dunlap (yes, the real girl one) and one of my favorites Tabitha Coffet from Tabtha’s Salon Takeover. A special goodbye note to CoCo Montrese as last night was her last performance in Florida before moving to Las Vegas as she was chosen to be in the prestigious show “The Diva’s.” Every time I came up to Tampa she was always so nice to me. She will be missed in Central Florida, but everyone is so happy for her success! In the end the new Miss Florida Gay USofA (and well deserved) is Delores Van Cartier. I know she will make our state proud at the nationals in May!
