Delta Work
Contestant from RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 3

The sixth eliminated contestant to sashay away on LOGO TVs RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 3 is Delta Work. Here is what Delta had to say.

At what age did female impersonation become an interest?
As a very little boy I used to wear my momís pumps and wear a towel on my hair and be fabulous. I didn’t know it was a career options at the time. I did drag for the first time on Halloween when I was 22.

How did you pick your name?
My name was given to me by some queen that hosted a show near where I live. They needed someone to be a Suzanne Sugarbaker character (Delta Burke) and my name came from that. One queen said you are not Delta Burke, you are Delta Work, and the rest is history!

How did you go about getting on “RuPauls Drag Race.” Tell me about the experience?
I sent in an audition tape the 2nd season and never heard back. I decided to try out again on season 3. After I sent my video in they called me to come in for a second interview. I had to lip synch one of RuPaul’s songs right in front of her and Santino. I was very nervous, but they liked me and told me right then and there that I was cast.

It’s a roller coaster experience. A lot of negative things come up because you question yourself all the time. When all is said and done everyone on the show has made a mark on drag history. I made a statement on who I am and what I am about. As they say well behaved women never make history LOL!!

Who do you want to win?
As long as Heather wins we are good! Obviously Raja has a special place in my heart because we have been friends for a long time and she was the first one to ever put me in a show. So clearly I would like Raja to win. However, Manila, Carmen, Yara and I became good friends so i could clearly see one of them win. GOD I HOPE HEATHER MAKES IT.

Tell me about the man behind Delta Work?
He is 6’3″ tall, 180 pounds, a mix of Irish and German, is 9.5 inches cut and a fire fighter. In all seriousness he is the same person as Delta. Delta is just an extension of who I am but a little more colorful. Being in drag gives you a license to do things you may not have the nerve to do out of drag. I am a very creative person either way, but drag gives me a bigger canvas for my creativity.

Tell me something people would be surprised to know about you.
After watching the show people think I have a really big mouth, but i am actually a very quiet person. I love one on one time with people and enjoy my alone time. I may seem critical on the show but I always route for the underdog. I usually i’am the underdog.

What’s ahead for Delta Work?
I am starting to do some out of state touring from my normal 6 to 7 days a week of working in Southern California. I was just asked to Emcee the Bay Area Youth Alliance Seminar, with this year’s topic being bullying. I am very excited about that.
