Congratulations to Hamburger Mary’s Ybor City on their 3rd year anniversary celebration. The bar & wait staff also did a Turn-a-Bout drag event benefitting Metropolitan Ministries Children Fund. Customers graciously donated to the some funny, amusing, but not so pretty cross overs. HM hostess Melanie Minyon was the ring master for the night. Kudos to Hamburger Mary’s for another great year and all the nonprofit support you give.
GaYBOR Store Front Decorating Holiday Party
The competition was fierce this year in the annual storefront decorating event. Hundreds of Ybor City businesses, bars, clubs, retail shops, offices and residents went all out to win the bragging rights and the $$$ of donated gifts and hotel weekend stays. The many judges had a hard time deciding on the winners, and the number of entries doubled over previous years. All helped by making GaYBOR/ Ybor City a prettier holiday experience.
Winners this year are: Best Decorated Bar – Gaspar’s Grotto, Best Decorated Restaurant- Carnes Chop House, and Best Decorated Retail- La France. The party was held at Bradley’s on 7th and over 350 attended the holiday fare with flair party. The hilarious entertainment included, Miss Joey Brooks, Esme Russell, Melanie Minyon and cast.
You Just Can Not Make This Up
Every year my loving partner, Carrie plants a fall vegetable garden. Every day he checks on them over and over again. One year I felt bad that there were no tomatoes growing yet. There were numerous blossoms but no baby tomatoes. So….. I thought I would be the nice lover and went to the grocery store and purchased some green and red vine ripened tomatoes. When Carrie wasn’t looking I put them in the garden next to the vines. The next day I said, “Oh look!!!! You have beautiful homegrown tomatoes!!!” Carrie was very surprised and said with a big smile, “WOW how strange, tomatoes are growing on my cucumber vines!!!” Oops!!!

It’s hard to think of a Holiday season without Una Voce: The Florida Men’s Choir. This group makes the whole Tampa Bay community so proud. At the helm is overture arranging, Tom Barker. From performing concerts to performing for the Mayor and dignitaries, you can catch them all over the city. We are all very proud to also call them members of GaYBOR! Viva La GaYBOR

A huge congratulations to Dustin’s team who ran in the ASAP Santa Speedo Run. You can catch Dustin at Dockside in Lakeland, not only behind the bar, but on top of it too!
