Week 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5 found Her-Story repeating itself with the girls lip synching to conversations of past seasons contestants. In a first for RuPaul, one of the contestants, Monica Beverly Hillz, almost had a melt down and then admitted on the main stage that she had already begun the transformation to live as a girl. This did not stop her from being in the bottom 2 as she had a very weak week. However, she turned it in the performance and it was Serena Cha Cha who sashayed away.

At what age did female impersonation become an interest & how did you pick your name?

At 18, I wanted a name to denote beauty and talent, and someone came up with the name and I loved it.

How many times did you apply to be on RPDR and how did it feel when you found out you had been chosen?

I only applied once and it felt amazing that I was chosen into the drag family I wanted to be a part of.

Tell me about your RuPaul’s Drag Race experience?

It was great. It has been a blessing and I savor every bit of it.

Who do you want to win?

Serena Cha Cha should have won, so how can I pick anyone else?

Tell me about the man behind Serena Cha Cha?

It’s the same outgoing, people loving person. I don’t have two personalities; I just perform as Serena Cha Cha.

Tell me something people would be surprised to know about you.

That I have only been in America for 6 years.

What’s ahead for Serena Cha Cha?

Making sure that every performance opportunity I get I blow the crowd up and raise more ChaCharinas.

I also want to encourage people to stand up for themselves and never be afraid to put themselves on big platforms.
