Yes it’s only September, but this past weekend was filled with events. On Friday the National Gay and Lesbian Task force had a preview for their Miami Recognition Dinner; Sparkle at Haven. Saturday was a marathon which started with the 3rd annual Julian’s Reverse Quince as a benefit for Sunserve. The next stop was the Fort Lauderdale’s Gay Men’s Chorus Fall Follies. Then it was off to Johnny’s for Sean David’s Roast as part of their 34th anniversary. Afterwards it was off to Hunters for their monthly Woof party and then down the block to Manor who featured Willam from RuPaul’s Drag Race singing live to the packed house. In addition to all this, Discotekka had one of their famous Waterworks Parties and as you can see from the pic a fun time was had by all. On Sunday, Smarty pants finished their weekend long celebration of their 11th anniversary. Congrats to Marc and Fritz Ann! Later on we went by Scandals for the annual Leather Masked Ball Leather Auction, and then finished the night at boardwalk for their annual turnabout! Needless to say, it was an exhausting weekend!

Erasure’s (Vince Clarke and Andy Bell) new album, The Violet Flame, hit the streets on September 23rd. From the moment that The Violet Flame opens, the listener is drawn into Erasure’s empowering sense of optimism. Once again – as they approach 30 years of songwriting, having sold 25 million albums and achieved more than 40 hit singles – with their 16th studio album, the globally-adored duo of Andy Bell and Vince Clarke have created another stunning success of emotionally-charged electro-pop with euphoric, synth-fuelled melodies that strike instantly to the heart.
The Violet Flame, recorded in New York and London and produced by Richard X, sees Erasure express an infectious zest for the future. As ever, the songwriting was entirely collaborative but this time, the warmth of Miami gave a perfect backdrop for the album writing and the starting point, unusually, was Vince’s pre-recorded dance grooves. This proved to be a more instant method of songwriting which saw the songs flow at great speed.
The Violet Flame will be available as limited 2CD edition, which features Erasure’s legendary live performance at Mute’s Short Circuit festival in 2011. In addition, there will be exclusive versions which include the 3CD deluxe box set.
