¿De dónde eres?
Nací en Cuba, aunque me creí en España. Mi madre es cubana, y mi padre español. Y de España son también mis amigos de siempre, muchos de mis afectos más cercanos, y muchos de los momentos más importantes de mi vida.
¿Eres soltero o tienes pareja?
Actualmente llevo casi dos años junto una persona muy especial. Y con quien además he creado y lanzado juntos nuestra propia marca de ropa “casual wear”. La llamamos “BaNG!”. Y el orgullo es nuestra línea de bañadores, que está hecha 100% aquí en Miami.
¿Qué cualidades buscas en tu pareja?
Busco su especial atractivo en todos los aspectos. Busco que me dé la confianza para poder caminar juntos por la vida. Y que además seamos iguales y nos complementemos, para así poder crear un gran equilibrio de entendimiento, sobre el cual levantar un polo de felicidad indestructible.
¿Cómo te describes?
Me describo como un hombre alegre, con gran sentido del humor, serio en lo laboral y muy divertido en lo social. Me gusta ayudar y sentir que los que me rodean estén felices a mi lado.
¿Qué haces en tu tiempo libre?
Normalmente trabajo de lunes a viernes y algunos fines de semana, dedicándome a bangclothes.com, el negocio que creó con mi pareja. Después, normalmente dedico tiempo a entrenarme en el gym, y luego comparto el tiempo restante con mi pareja y mis amigos. Me encanta la playa, jugar al tenis y sobre todo hacer cosas donde tenga contacto directo con la naturaleza.
¿Cuál es tu secreto para mantenerte en forma?
Intento mantener mi rutina de ejercicios que es bastante rigurosa. Voy al gym cuatro veces a la semana, hago cardio todas las mañanas religiosamente, y la dieta diaria que llevo. Aunque reconozco que a veces hago algunas trampitas, porque soy muy dulcero, y me encantan los helados y todo tipos de chocolates. Pero si le cuentas ésto útlimo a alguien, lo voy a negar rotundamente, ¿ok? Jajaja!
Si pudieras visitar cualquier lugar en el mundo, ¿dónde irías?
He viajado mucho en estos últimos años, en realidad. Lo que más me atrae siempre son los lugares exóticos, donde puedes ver, aprender y entender otras culturas. Son experiencias impagables que te abren mucho la cabeza. Mi próxima aventura quisiera que fuera hacer un safari en Kenia (Africa), o visitar Los Doce Apóstoles en Australia. ¡Soy viajero por naturaleza!
¿Qué haces para ganar la vida?
Pues trabajar, como todos en este mundo. A los 20 años dejé de estudiar y armé mi primer negocio pequeño en España. Fue una frutería en el pueblo donde crecí. Siempre tuve esa visión y espíritu de emprendedor, de abrirme camino por mi propia cuenta. Después todo evolucionó y pude abrir un supermercado. En 2006 me cambié al mundo de la moda, lo cual era mi gran deseo. Pude conocer y aprender de muchas personas, y llegar a tener tiendas propias con mi ex ex-socio allí. En 2012, por motivación personal, decidí mudarme a Miami. Y estando aquí fue que se presentó la oportunidad de hacer algo en lo que más me apasiona, y donde más útil puedo ser para ayudar a otros, que es diseñando y creando ropa. Nada me gratifica más que cada vez que un cliente nos escribe o nos envía fotos con sus bañadores “BaNG!” puestos, y me dicen que les encanta la calidad y lo bien que les queda, que se los quieren poner hasta para ir al supermercado, etc. Ahí siento que mi tarea y mi función quedó cumplida.
¿Cuál es la mejor cosa sobre tu trabajo?
Lo mejor sobre mi trabajo es todo. Al ser un negocio propio, muchas veces tienes que dedicarle muchas horas. Pero cuando algo te apasiona no hay ningún motivo de cansancio, ni mala gana. Aun si lo que me toca es levantarme a las 5:30 am todos los días, o tener que estar 12 horas parado en un punto de venta. Cuando lo disfrutas cada minuto, lo sientes tuyo, y que estás realizando tu sueño a cada paso, y que con eso puedes hacerle la vida un poco mejor a otra persona de algún modo, eso es imbatible.
Where are you from?
I was born in Cuba but I grew up in Spain. My mom is Cuban and my dad is Spanish. Many of my lifelong and closest friends are from Spain and that’s where many of the most important moments of my life have happened.
Are you single or do you have a partner?
Actually, I’ve been with a very special person for two years. Together, we have created and launched our own line of Causal wear called BanG! We are very proud that our line of swimsuits is 100% Miami made.
What qualities do you look for in your partner?
I’m looking for someone who is attractive in all respects; someone who gives me confidence as we go through life together. I would also like for us to be equals and complement each other so we can we can create a balance of understanding on which we can build indestructible happiness.
How would you describe yourself?
I describe myself as a happy man with a great sense of humor, serious about work and fun in my social life. I like to be helpful and feel that the people around me are happy at my side.
What do you do in your free time?
Usually I work Monday to Friday and some weekends, dedicating myself to the business we created. After work, I usually dedicate some time working out in the gym and then I spend time with my partner and my friends. I love the beach, playing tennis, and more than anything doing things that put me in direct contact with nature.
What’s your secret to staying in shape?
I always try to follow my exercise routine, which is pretty rigorous. I go to the gym four times a week and I religiously do cardio every morning. And I follow a strict diet. I have to have a few cheats since I have a sweet tooth and love ice cream and all kinds of chocolates. If you share that with anyone, I will flat-out deny it thought. haha
If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I’ve traveled a lot in the past few years. What I always am most attracted to are exotic places where you can see, learn, and understand other cultures: those invaluable experiences that open your mind. I would really love for my next trip to be an African Safari in Kenya or to visit the 12 Apostles in Australia. I’m a natural born traveler.
What do you do to make a living?
Well I work just like the rest of the world. At 20, I stopped studying and I opened my first small business, a fruit stand in Spain, in the little town I grew up in. I have always had that entrepreneurial vision and spirit, and the desire to pay my own way. Eventually I was able to open my own supermarket. In 2006, I got into the fashion industry, which was always my desire. I made a lot of contacts and was able to open my own stores along with a colleague in Spain. In 2012, I decided to move to Miami, where I was presented with the opportunity to do something that I am so passionate about, designing and creating clothing. There is nothing more gratifying as when a client writes to tell me they love the quality or fit of our swimwear or sends pics with a BaNG suit on. It makes me feel like my job and role are complete.
What´s the best part about your job?
The best part of my job is EVERYTHING! Being a business owner requires a lot of dedication, and sometimes I have to put in a lot of hours. But, it´s something that I love so I am too motivated to get tired. I can´t wait to work. Even if I have to get up at 5:30 am every morning or spend 12 hours on my feet , when you are doing something you love, you enjoy every minute and it really feels ¨yours¨ and you are living out your dream, and doing something to make someone else´s life a little better, that´s unbeatable.
