Scottish actor and singer Alan Cumming has racked up quite a few honors in his thirty-year acting career. He has won the Olivier Award for his performance in the comedy Accidental Death of an Anarchist, he won a Tony Award and a Drama Desk Award for his turn as master of ceremonies in the musical Cabaret, he was nominated for two Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award for his role as Eli Gold in the CBS drama The Good Wife, and for his LGBT activism he’s won the GLAAD Vito Russo Award and the HRC Humanitarian Award. It’s particularly exciting when a man of his talents goes on tour, and as luck would have it, he’s on tour right at this moment, and one of the stops is at Fort Lauderdale’s Parker Playhouse.

Alan Cumming will be presenting his interactive stage show, Alan Cumming: Uncut, on Saturday, April 11 at 8 p.m. A mix of jokes, songs and comedic banter (he will be joined onstage by cellist Eleanor Norton and his musical director, Emmy Award winner Lance Horne), this show will entertain all of his fans, whether they got to know him through his work in theater, the silver screen or the small screen. Dina Martina will serve as opening act for this performance.

Alan Cumming debuted on television in the Scottish Television detective series Taggart in 1985. Around this same time, he started performing in theater productions in Scotland, moving to London’s West End in 1990. He became well-known for his role in the 1991 BBC comedy Bernard and the Genie, which in turn earned him roles in the films Prague (1992) and Circle of Friends (1995), for which he was well-received. His first starring role in an American production was in Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion (1997), opposite Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow. His star turn in Cabaret on Broadway in 1998 caused him to move permanently to the U.S., although he still acts in the United Kingdom. Currently he can be seen on stage in a Broadway revival of Cabaret and also on CBS’s The Good Wife in the role of Eli Gold. Cumming, openly bisexual, was once called “a frolicky pansexual sex symbol” and has worked to advance LGBT rights causes in the U.S. and in the UK.

Tickets are available for purchase right now for Alan Cumming’s performance at the Parker Playhouse. Prices range from $43 to $108 per person and can be purchased online at parkerplayhouse.com or at the box office (707 NE 8th St., Fort Lauderdale) up until the night of the event.
