Announcing MD Now Slow Burn Theatre Company’s 2026/2027 Season, featuring a dynamic lineup of five powerful and crowd-pleasing musicals celebrating connection, courage and self-discovery. Presented in the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, the season includes Come From Away; Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; Mean Girls; Dear Evan Hansen; and Rent.

Based on the true story of airline passengers stranded in Newfoundland after September 11, 2001, “Come From Away” plays October 10 – 25, 2026, bringing audiences into a story of humanity, courage, and connection. Winner of 13 major awards, including Best New Musical at the Olivier Awards and Outstanding Musical at the Drama Desk Awards, this New York Times Critics’ Pick celebrates compassion and the power of community. As fear and uncertainty give way to generosity and trust, the small town’s residents transform a crisis into lasting friendships and unforgettable music.
Step into a world of pure imagination with “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” playing December 12 – 27, 2026. Based on Roald Dahl’s beloved novel, this fantastical musical follows young Charlie Bucket and his Grandpa Joe as they join four other Golden Ticket winners on a tour of Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory. Filled with dazzling sets, whimsical characters, and magical moments, the story unfolds with energy, humor, and unforgettable songs that delight audiences of all ages
Based on the Paramount Pictures film, “Mean Girls” hits the stage February 13 – 28, 2027, bringing the iconic high school comedy to life with sharp wit and infectious energy. With a book by Tina Fey, music by Jeff Richmond, and lyrics by Nell Benjamin, this hilarious musical explores friendship, identity, and the high price of popularity.
Winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, “Dear Evan Hansen” plays April 10 – 25, 2027, bringing audiences a deeply personal and profoundly contemporary story of identity, connection, and the desire to belong. When a single letter changes everything, Evan Hansen must navigate the consequences of a lie that spirals out of control, touching the lives of everyone around him. Featuring a soaring, emotionally charged score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, this musical delivers unforgettable songs and powerful storytelling.
Marking its 30th Anniversary, “Rent” will take the stage June 12 – 27, 2027, chronicling the lives of struggling artists in New York City’s East Village from 1989 to 1990 as they fight to create, love, and survive during the AIDS crisis. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize and four Tony Awards, this rock musical is a defining cultural phenomenon, exploring themes of resilience, acceptance, and the transformative power of music.
