Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts

Siempre Flamenco’s Festival de Cante Flamenco returns to the Adrienne Arsht Center for a mesmerizing and passionate production featuring Spain’s brightest stars. This festival, a celebration of cante, brings South Florida audiences a unique opportunity to enjoy an art form that is seldom heard outside of Spain. The deep emotions that emanate from flamenco song unite with the intricate fury of dance in a unique performance that will exhilarate audiences with an up-close experience in the Carnival Studio Theater.

Arsht_SiempreFlamencoThe 10th anniversary edition of the festival, dedicated to the great flamenco poet Manuel Molina, sees several world-renowned artists take the stage. Flamenco superstar La Susi and singer José Mendez, a descendant of flamenco legend La Paquera, will both make their Miami debuts. Singer Ismael de la Rosa will make his second appearance at the festival. Guest guitarist Paco Fernandez, along with Paco Fonta, will provide accompaniment.

This year’s program will be complemented with a strong offering of dance. Guest artist Sonia Olla will make her debut performance at the festival, and will premiere a new work. Founding Director Celia Fonta will also premiere a new work, using the famous “Bata de Cola” (long train dress) in the Solea style.

Performance dates and times are Friday, September 4 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, September 5 at 3 and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, September 6 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $48 per person and may be purchased through the Adrienne Arsht Center Box Office by calling (305) 949-6722 or online at

Praised with rave reviews, Paco and Celia Fonta have won the hearts of all who have seen them. With their company Siempre Flamenco, they can perform as a guitarist, singer, dance duo, trio, or with a larger group of musicians and dancers for full-scale theatre productions. When brought to the concert stage several different flamenco styles will be presented. From the most serious and profound song of the Solea which is said to be the mother of all flamenco songs and expresses love, heartache and loneliness, to the fast-paced Bulerias, which is a song that indulges in the playful aspects of life, to have fun and enjoy friends and family, Siempre Flamenco will delight and exhilarate young and old.
