Celebrate Orgullo Enters 8th Successful Year

UC|CU’s Celebrate ORGULLO 2018 – South Florida’s first Hispanic LGBT Pride festival – enters its 8th successful year with an International Artists Showcase, ArtDiva Bus Tours, Music, Human Rights Conference, Costume Exhibit, Movie night, the Night of a Thousand Celia’s GALA, and much more… all Celebrating Celia Cruz from Oct. 1-15.

They are honoring the life the Queen of Salsa – CELIA CRUZ, through Art, Music, Dance, Photography, Film and Spoken Word.

The lineup of events are:

Monday, October 1st, 6-8pm – Community Forum – LGBT Media & Activism in Latin America at the Hotel Gaythering featuring Michael Lavers & Lynare Robins, a Free Community Forum & discussion, in partnership with ImpactOUT and the LGBTQI+ Impact Lecture Series.

Tuesday, October 2nd, 7pm – Dinner, Jazz y Porsias Night on South Beach at The Betsy Hotel starting at the Alley Bistro for a special chef selected menu, followed by a night of talents, featuring the music of EnVee & poetry by Caridad Moro-Gronlier. Prefix $40 pp.

Saturday, October 6th, 2-6pm – Art/Diva Bus Tour of Little Haiti. Guests will be met at Arte Fundamental Gallery in Little Haiti, driven to the Sagamore Hotel art exhibit in Miami Beach, then to the American Museum of Cuban Diaspora for an exhibit preview, Vodkatinis & light fare on board, all while being escorted and entertained by Drag Diva Ann Atomic. $40 pp

Saturday, October 6, 11pm to 4am – Noche Latina Saturdays inside the Ivy Dance Room and Patio at the Manor Complex pays tribute to Celia Cruz as a preview to the Night of a Thousand Celia’s. Doors open 11pm to 4am, and there is NO COVER before 12!

Sunday, October 7th, 2-6pm – Art/Diva Bus Tour of historic Cauley Square. Guests will be met at the Douglas Road (37th Avenue & US 1) Metrorail station, then journey south to historic Cauley Square for a walking tour of this quaint & historic Artist Village, visit shops and the Aviary, Vodkatinis & light fare on board, all while being escorted and entertained by Drag Diva DANG HO. $40 pp

Tuesday, October 9th, 7pm – Celia the QUEEN movie night. A feature length documentary film (78 minutes) that pays tribute to the work of a stellar performer who brought the sound of salsa to the world–Celia Cruz. $20 pp.

Wednesday, Oct 10th, 7pm – Artists showcase exhibit featuring juried exhibits and artists at Pridelines Miami. This event will showcase the work of Emilio Aponte-Sierra, with refreshments, music, featuring art, and

celebrating all things Hispanic & Celia Cruz. Learn to salsa with a free lesson from their dance instructors. Free!

Friday, October 12th, 7pm – Celia Gala: Night of a Thousand Celia’s at the American Museum of Cuban Diaspora. This is a unique opportunity to preview the Celia Cruz exhibit before anyone else! Their 300+ guests will be welcomed into the museum for a preview of the exhibit (Exhibit opens to the public on Oct 20th). Alexis Fernandez “Marytrini” to receive Unity Coalition|Coalción Unida’s legends honors award. Once inside, you will be escorted to the rooftop venue for a celebration of music, food, Bacardi Bar, a Celia look-alike contest and much more. $80 pp
