Now approaching their tenth year selling music and more in Broward County, We Got The Beats Record Store has recently relocated one of their stores from Fort Lauderdale back to Oakland Park, where their first brick-and-mortar store opened in 2010.

The new location (easily accessible to Wilton Manors and just steps East of Scandals Saloon) features a more open layout, significantly more parking, and more room for expanded lines of genres like new pop/rock, dance, country, and hard rock, as well as more CD’s, turntables, accessories, and gifts like posters and Funko Pop figurines of popular artists.  There’s a reason to visit even if you haven’t been bitten by the vinyl bug yet.  The store will also continue to buy collections from locals.

There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony with Oakland Park City officials on Friday, November 22 at 11am, which will include the dedication of a permanent installation to honor local jazz bass player Jaco Pastorius, for whom the City’s park on Dixie Highway is named.  This store will also carry the full line of music available by Jaco in all formats, including DVD and blu-ray, and will show a movie about his life shortly after opening.

There will be giveaways of records, stickers, CD’s, DVD’s, and special items like a Led Zeppelin deluxe vinyl box set and a rare test pressing of Blink-182’s latest release.

In addition, since this will take place one week before Black Friday, both We Got The Beats locations will begin their Black Friday special sales on the day of the Grand Opening and run them for the full week and both weekends between 11/22 and 12/1, to include their famous “buy more save more” sale on new records, CD’s and DVD’s, as well as free used records with the purchase of any turntable, among several other blowouts and significant deals.  (Full details can be found on their Facebook page as they become available.)  Of course, Black Friday also includes the full line of well-stocked Black Friday Record Store Day limited edition releases.

We Got The Beats has recently become a member of the Department of Record Stores coalition of record stores across the country. They are located at 840 E Oakland Park Blvd, Suite #118, in Oakland Park and at 4588 N University Drive in Lauderhill (near Tate’s Comics.)

“We are so happy to be back in the City of Oakland Park, especially in the revitalized plaza with Fat Tap Beer Bar and other great neighbors,” says owner Tony Cicalese.
