Festival in the Park,” which is an event designed to encourage all men, regardless of race or ethnicity, to take control of their health and to bring their sexual partners and their children to the event. This event takes place at Delevoe Park in Fort Lauderdale (next to the African American Research Library and Cultural Center). The Festival in the Park will include: HIV testing and other health screenings, distribution of condoms, prevention education, and demonstrations on the proper use of condoms; Speakers, workshops, and vendors addressing various topics; live entertainment (Singers, Dancers, rappers, DJs, poets); and Physical activities (Three-legged race, Zumba, Egg ‘n’ spoon race, Sack Race, 3-on-3 Basketball tournament, football toss, horseshoes, and other activities. Opening today Oolite Arts’ new exhibition, “Everything is a Spiral,” is an invitation to reconsider our relationship with time. In the show curated by Dejha Carrington, Oolite Arts’ 17 Resident Artists come together to explore the concept of time as an ever-evolving coil, where the present moment is layered with multiple pasts and possible futures. The participating artists include: Liene Bosquê, Alberto Checa, Emma Cuba, Mark Delmont, Diana Eusebio, Matt Forehand, AdrienneRose Gionta, Faren Humes, Diana Larrea, Amanda Linares, Juan Luis Matos, Yucef Merhi, Alejandra Moros, Lee Pivnik, Chire “Vanta Black” Regans, Onajide Shabaka & Carrington Ware.
