A video of a straight man supporting his gay friend at Sydney’s Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is going viral. The clip, shared by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation on TikTok, shows two older men, David and Will, watching the parade. David, wearing a sparkly leather rainbow hat, is gay, while his friend Will is straight. Will explains that people in his rural hometown are hesitant, they are beginning to accept the LGBTQ community.

The video has gained nearly two million views, with over 175,000 likes and 1,000 comments. TikTok users have praised Will for his open-mindedness. One comment wished, “May Will always drive into the parking spot he needs, may his pillow always be the perfect temperature.”

Meanwhile, Sydney’s Mardi Gras parade featured quirky floats, including one from The New South Wales Nurses and Midwives Association. The float, which went viral, had medics in purple scrubs dancing behind a giant baby while Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” played. “Aussie, aussie, aussie… oi, oi, oi”
