The clip, shared by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation on TikTok, shows two older men, David and Will, watching the parade. David, wearing a sparkly leather rainbow hat, is gay, while his friend Will is straight. Will explains that people in his rural hometown are hesitant, they are beginning to accept the LGBTQ community.
The video has gained nearly two million views, with over 175,000 likes and 1,000 comments. TikTok users have praised Will for his open-mindedness. One comment wished, “May Will always drive into the parking spot he needs, may his pillow always be the perfect temperature.”
