Lesbian Thespians Brings Load-Bearing Walls, August 2

The Lesbian Thespians, a South Florida nonprofit led by LGBTQ women, will debut their newest production, Load-Bearing Walls, at the Center for Spiritual Living in Oakland Park. Showtimes are set for Saturday, August 2, at 7 PM. Written by Pamela Morgan and directed by Samantha Palomino, the play centers on Lena, an asexual lesbian, and her long-term partner Sophie.

When Lena dies and her conservative mother sues Sophie for control of the estate, a legal battle unfolds, questioning what defines a “valid” relationship. Inspired by a landmark 2022 Swedish Supreme Court ruling, the play challenges societal norms around romance, sex, death, and dignity. Lesbian Thespians is a unique South Florida Organization that expands theater and performance arts from a queer women and lesbian lens. More details are available on Lesbian Thespians’ social media.
