A familiar landmark of Wilton Drive may finally be stepping into its next chapter. According to a news report by OutSFL’s John Hayden, the owners of Alibi Plaza, officially known as Wilton Shoppes, have revealed an ambitious new redevelopment plan that could reshape the heart of Wilton Manors. Stiles, a development company that reacquired the property earlier this year, presented their vision at a Pre-Application Meeting with the city on July 22. Hayden, who attended the meeting and detailed the proposal in OutSFL, noted that

“The building with Alibi, Hunters, and others will remain essentially the same.”

But the north side of the property is where major changes are proposed. Stiles plans to construct six new buildings—two single-story structures facing Wilton Drive offering about 14,000 square feet of retail and dining, and four additional buildings in the rear, replacing the long-vacant structure, which would be leveled. These new buildings would house approximately 83 luxury condos rising four to five stories tall. This marks the start of a lengthy process.

Hayden notes,
“The Pre-Application Meeting is the first of many steps developers must take before breaking ground.”

The plans must go through the city’s Development Review Committee, then Wilton Manors’ Planning & Zoning board, before reaching the city commission and, finally, the county. Public input will be considered at nearly every stage. If all approvals are granted on schedule, construction could begin as early as 2027. Hayden points out that for many locals, this feels like déjà vu. The previous owner had long pursued a project called Wilma On The Drive.

They eventually sold the property to Stiles, who abandoned the original plans, instead opting to renovate the occupied building and lease out the empty spaces. Now, it’s up to the community and city officials to decide what Wilton Shoppes becomes next. To view the full design, you can visit wiltonmanors.gov.
