More than a dozen people were arrested after a police raid at West Hollywood’s iconic LGBTQ+ venue, The Abbey. Thirteen arrests took place in the city’s Rainbow District.
One viral clip shows security locking The Abbey’s entrance as officers stand outside. Another shows arrests in progress, with one witness saying, “They’ve just been going into the clubs and grabbing people… they haven’t been presenting any ID.” Officers confirmed they were from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Department but declined to say why. Later, the station told Them.us that the raid was a scheduled undercover operation following reports of pickpocketing.
